Pastor’s Notes: Job Chapter 42
Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning – Job 42:12
John 2 “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”
1. God doesn’t operate like we do
The last shall be first and the first last
Matthew 20:8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’
Gods grace manifested
2. Have faith in times of trouble - God is taking you somewhere glorious
Easy to have faith when it’s all laid out before you, (clear path) difficult when you are in a storm (obscure path)
I am the narrow path (way)
We want to control our own lives so when something comes along we can’t control we become anxious, angry, fearful
3. Grace thru faith (In Jesus) a gift from God
Everything is a gift…
Job was restored double, but he had no idea that was coming when he was in the storm – that’s faith, trusting when you have every reason not to trust, believing when you have every excuse not to believe
Thou he slay me still I will trust Him
Question: Would you still have faith, would you still trust Him, if it never got any better for you?
Jesus came and went thru this storm we call life, his life was cut short at a very young age, because HE had something glorious in mind for you and me…
Philippians 3:8 – Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Closing – we don’t know exactly how God is going to workout our future, but we know it’s going to be good, because God is good!
Psalms 107:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 100:1-5 – The Lord is Good and His Love Endures Forever. Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth. Exodus 34:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
